Festivals That Tell Our Story
Rooted in Tradition, Ready for the World
In a world that’s racing toward globalization, where success is often measured by how well our children can compete on international platforms, there’s a question that keeps many parents awake at night: How do we prepare our children for tomorrow’s world without losing the essence of who we are?
At Walnut School, we’ve always believed the answer isn’t choosing between the two—it’s creating a beautiful harmony where both flourish together.
Global Excellence Meets Cultural Pride
Our students are formidable global citizens. They win awards in competitive exams, master English with eloquence, debate world views with confidence, and handle technology with an ease that often leaves adults amazed. With advanced academics keeping them ahead of their peers, they are internationally competitive.
But here’s what makes them truly special: while they’re conquering these global arenas, their hearts beat with the rhythm of dhol tasha, their hands craft festive art, and their eyes light up with the stories of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and the Chola kings.
Festivals That Tell Our Story
Walk through our corridors during festival season, and you witness magic unfold. During Janmashtami, our students fearlessly climb human pyramids for Dahi Handi, paying homage to Lord Krishna through this ancient celebration. Their laughter echoes the joy and devotion that defines this beautiful festival, teaching them courage, teamwork and spiritual connection.
When Navratri arrives, our campus transforms into a vibrant tapestry of colours. Children across all grades learn Garba and master the rhythm of Dandiya through dedicated workshops, connecting them to centuries of heritage.
Come Diwali, and our youngest learners engage in the beautiful custom of Bhondla, while during Ashadi Ekadashi, our little ones participate in palkhi processions that teach them about devotion and community. We also honour Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj on Shiva Jayanti, celebrate Maharashtra Diwas with pride and embrace the colors and joy of Holi.
Hands That Create, Hearts That Connect
In our art and craft sessions, fingers across all age groups work with clay to create Ganpati idols, followed by heartfelt aartis that fill the air with devotion. During Diwali, children craft lanterns that illuminate their understanding of the festival of lights.
For Raksha Bandhan, students weave rakhis with love, understanding the bonds they represent. On Guru Purnima, they craft mementos and cards, learning the sacred relationship between teacher and student that our culture holds dear.
Where Stories Come Alive
Every celebration is woven with storytelling. Children don’t just participate—they understand. They learn why we celebrate, what each festival represents and how these occasions connect them to their ancestors. Through quizzes, skits and story-sharing sessions, they become the narrators of their own cultural heritage.
Masters of Folk Arts
The Grand Carnival: Where Dreams Take Flight
Masters of Folk Arts
As our students progress through higher classes, they delve deeper into the folk arts that define our cultural landscape. They learn lathi kathi, feel the strength of this ancient practice. The thunderous beats of dhol tasha resonate through their being, while they master lezum, jhanz, and jhenda—folk dances performed with authentic equipment that connect them to Maharashtra’s rich artistic heritage.
These aren’t just extracurricular activities—they’re rites of passage that build character, discipline, and an unshakeable connection to their roots.
The Grand Carnival: Where Dreams Take Flight
Nothing captures our philosophy better than our annual grand carnival. Each year, as curtains rise on our Broadway-style performance, parents sit mesmerized watching their children bring to life stories from our rich history and mythology with professional-level artistry that gives goosebumps to every observer.
In those moments, watching their child embody a character from our heritage or celebrate a historical victory, parents see it clearly: their child isn’t just performing—they’re carrying forward a legacy.

The Beautiful Balance We’ve Always Maintained
The Beautiful Balance We’ve Always Maintained
This has always been our approach: our children are globally competitive, technologically savvy, academically excellent and culturally rooted. Our students debate about national policies with confidence and perform folk dances with equal grace. They code sophisticated programs and craft festive art with the same dedication.
Because we’ve always believed that truly strong individuals aren’t those who abandon their roots to touch the sky—they’re those who draw strength from their roots to soar even higher.
At Walnut School, we don’t just educate students; we nurture cultural warriors who take on the world while carrying the best of India in their hearts.
Because success belongs to those who know where they come from.
