Debate Mastery at Walnut : Shaping Future Leaders

As a top-ranking CBSE affiliated school, we at Walnut School believe in nurturing well-rounded individuals. Our Debate competitions organized for Std. 3 to 10 showcase how students learn to express themselves confidently and while considering another perspective.

Why Debate Matters

In today’s world, the ability to articulate ideas clearly and persuasively is crucial. Our debate competition isn’t just about winning arguments; it’s about developing critical thinking, public speaking, and teamwork that will serve our students well beyond their schooling years.

The Walnut Debate Experience

Whether you’re at Walnut School Shivane, Walnut School Fursungi, or Walnut School Wakad, the debate competition follows the same engaging format :

  1. Team Formation: Teams of 4 to 5 members belonging to the same grade.
  2. Topic Revelation : Thought – provoking and research – inducing topics are provided in advance for students to prepare better. However, the side they will be representing is decided on the spot through a quick coin toss.
  3. The Face Off : Teams present their arguments and reactions to their opponents’ arguments in a structured format.

What sets our debate competition apart is the holistic approach we take :

  2. Safe Space for Growth : Providing a structured environment where ideas can be exchanged and learning happens on all fronts
  3. Parental Involvement : Encouraging parents to take up these topics as dinner – time conversations, thus leading to productive quality time at home as well

The Debate Format

Our unique format keeps things exciting :

  • Coin Toss : Determines which side each team argues and goes first.
  • Round 1 : Each team member introduces their side of the argument.
  • Break : Teams consult with their external resources and strategize.
  • Round 2 : Teams react to their opponents’ arguments.
