Empowering Young Leaders : Walnut School's Democratic Journey

At Walnut School, we believe in nurturing not just academic excellence, but also leadership skills that will serve our students throughout their lives. Our student leader elections showcase our commitment to all-round development and highlight why we’re considered one of the best schools in Pune CBSE (https://walnut.school/academics/curriculum/). Let’s understand how this election process occurs, across our Walnut School Shivane, Walnut School Fursungi, and Walnut School Wakad campuses.

The Call for Future Leaders

Students from various grades are eligible to take on leadership roles :

  • Standard 10 : Head Boy and Head Girl positions
  • Standard 9 (or the highest standard applicable at the campus) : House Captains (both girls and boys)

These positions aren’t just titles; they’re responsibilities that shape the school’s culture and provide invaluable leadership experience, contributing to the all-round development of our students.

The Election Process : A Lesson in Democracy

Our election process is designed to be fair, transparent, and educational.

  • Step 1 : Nomination and Screening

Aspiring leaders submit their names to our staff. Our teachers then carefully assess each candidate’s behaviour and discipline records. We believe that true leadership starts with personal integrity, a key aspect of all-round development.

  • Step 2 : The Campaigning

For a limited amount of time, our corridors and playgrounds at Walnut School Fursungi, Shivane, and Wakad transform into hubs of activity. Candidates showcase their creativity and communication skills through poster campaigns and speeches.

  •  Step 3 : Voting Day

On the BIG day, Std. 6 onwards students participate in the voting process, experiencing firsthand the power of democratic decision-making.

  • Rules of Engagement : Fairness and Respect

We set clear guidelines to ensure a respectful and ethical campaign, teaching valuable lessons in integrity and fair play.

  • Step 4 : Result Day

During the Results and Oath Ceremony, a grand reveal celebrates not just the winners but the votes that helped choose these able leaders.
