Here is the standard-wise list of textbooks that Walnut students refer to in an academic year and exam – related information.

The NCERT textbooks can be accessed online via : http://ncert.nic.in/textbook.php

Marathi textbooks link where required : https://books.ebalbharati.in/

The Information Technology textbooks (required for Std. 9 and 10) can be accessed here : https://cbseacademic.nic.in/skill-education-curriculum.html [Secondary Level Class -> Information Technology (402)]

Select the correct Class -> Subject -> Book Title, as per the ones mentioned in your list mentioned below.

If the link does not work, try to access it from a different machine. Walnut School cannot really do anything about it 😀

The entire textbook is available in the PDF format. You can also download the entire textbook or individual chapters by using the Download option on the top right corner, once the textbook is visible on the screen.

If you purchase hard copies of the textbooks, please keep these at home. We have a separate set of books in the school for the kids to refer to. Do not send your set of textbooks to school.

You are encouraged to refer to the online PDFs since these are the latest versions, and hard copies either might not be in stock or may not be updated versions as per CBSE’s latest rationalized syllabus. If you are buying physical textbooks, do check that they have “Rationalised 2023-24” written at the bottom of every page.

Walnut Special

For some subjects in some standards we do not have a separate NCERT textbook assigned. This is because we have gone quite ahead of the NCERT recommended curriculum. The study material for these is specially made and it is sent to you on the worksheets and presentations itself. You can also refer to it in the digital versions of the material on WalSh.

Walmiki Quizzes (Test Bytes)

Students would have Walmiki quizzes to be solved occasionally. For these, the student will have to log in to the Walmiki app on a computer. These are a part of the continuous evaluation process and are added to the formative marks on the report card. It is okay for students to treat this as an open book test. The idea is that they should go through the material properly and understand the questions and answer properly. Do note that this is a part of homework and has to be done on the day that it is assigned.

Worksheet questions

The worksheets have many questions. Some are done as classwork and some are assigned as homework. You can get this information in the WalSh App in the Curriculum Updates. There are many extra Questions on the worksheet too. Those can be done at home, if you wish, for practice. These are NOT to be submitted in school.

Homework

Teachers expect the homework to be done on the day it is assigned and if it has to be submitted, the deadlines must be followed by the students. At Walnut, we teach a little everyday and do activities and exercises based on that immediately. We do not wait for the whole lesson to be over before starting exercises. If students do the homework sincerely, they get to quickly revise what was done in school and will be able to receive the next day’s lesson in a better manner. It also helps the teacher understand how much the student has learned.

In higher classes, homework may require students to record an audio clip / a video / complete a Google Form or an escape room as a homework assignment. Again, students are allowed to refer to their books and material. The only condition is that they should use their own brain! 🙂

If homework is done sincerely, then in the lower classes our students don’t really need to do homework + studying. The way it is done in Walnut, homework = studying. Please let the students do the homework on their own. Do not give out the answers or have a tutor do the thinking part for them! We will talk about the benefits of this routine separately.

Advanced Curriculum

You will see that Walnut students study an advanced curriculum. For many subjects across many classes, they are studying the next standard’s textbooks.

The textbook list and other information for each standard is shared directly with each parent based on the standard the child is in.
