PROJECTS / HOMEWORK
No tedious projects for parents
Subject-Wise ClassroomsNo complicated homework that parents have to figure out
No running around to purchase random things
No tedious projects for parents
At Walnut School, parents never have to do projects at home for their children. In all other schools, projects are given as homework that they have to sit up all night and do for their children. Here at Walnut, children do the hands-on activities in the school and all the material for that is made available in the school itself. The students actually do meaningful activities, participate in a variety of events and learn a lot in the process. Parents get to enjoy the results and the displays!
Subject-Wise ClassroomsNo complicated homework that parents have to figure out
At Walnut School, students get age appropriate and meaningful homework. The time required for it on a daily basis increases slowly with age. From Nursery to Grade 5, homework is not compulsory at all. In fact, kids get rewards and prizes in the form of Walnut Talents for doing it regularly and thoroughly. Even from grade 6 onwards, homework is sensible, does not require parental (or grandparental) involvement. Parents get regular feedback about the quantity and quality of assignments turned in!
No running around to purchase random things
At Walnut School, the kids do a lot of hands-on activities and the school takes care of the logistics and the material. Parents do not have to go running around to buy things for art and craft or science projects. The kids do these things in the school and the material is provided in the school itself. What do parents do? Parents get to enjoy seeing their kids do all these amazing things!

Online Teaching
Academic Planning
- At Walnut School, we focus a lot on reading skills in the early years. If children can learn to read well then the transition in the later years to read to learn is not difficult.
- Every classroom minute is mapped. Plans are made for every concept, every period, every activity – what to teach, how to teach, what to ask, how to evaluate, how to move ahead, how to revise and so on.
- This allows for a great variety of activities like role playing and analysis in history, fact finding and linking in geography, experiments in science or reviews in English.
- All this is planned in advance, for each and every classroom period, even before the academic year begins.
- The teachers are carefully selected and briefed about every learning goal. With this level of planning, learning is always effective and on track.

Multidimensional Learning
- As part of the regular school day, hands on activities are conducted that help the children develop real life skills.
- In addition to the core academics, children also pick up financial planning, current affairs, logic and strategy skills.
- Unique activities like reading theater improves their reading, speaking and presentation skills.
- Which are the most important skills which will be needed in the future.
- Our events are unique, and each one focuses on different aspects of development and growth.
- Clarity of thought, communication skills, conclusive ability and confidence greatly increases due to the exposure they get in the school.
Classes
- Sometimes, children don’t quite pick up a concept in the classroom and need more attention. Some need additional instructions in their mother tongue or just need more time.
- However, if a weakness remains it affects future learning, especially in subjects like English and Mathematics. At Walnut, this extra time and attention is given to the students.
- This is done as a one-on-one activity and part of the school itself.
E-learning
- We have our own eLearning software with modules that are short, intense and to the point.
- Each lesson is broken up into concepts and there are hosts of tests with multiple choice questions that the children can take on demand.
- That helps them learn at their own pace, revise and feel confident to handle all kinds of testing formats later.
- All these are available online and can be accessed from home too.
Online Teaching
- The best online teaching experience in a thousand mile radius
- Parents and students very appreciative of the efforts taken by our teachers check what parents say
- Engagement of students was very high.
- Not a single activity was missed, even though the whole year was spent online

Co-curricular Activities
Not only do we focus on curricular activities, but we also have equal focus on co-curricular activities, which give students an edge above others when they become part of a larger group as they pass out from school.
Foreign language
Writing and Publishing
Movie reviews
Arts Awareness
Computational Thinking
Foreign language
- All students at Walnut School get to systematically study French
- It’s fun for them to do so without the pressure of exams. It gives them an advantage for higher education and international jobs.
- More than 300 million people speak French all over the world. It is the language of sophistication in every sphere – cooking, fashion, theatre, arts and architecture. – French is also a good base for learning other European languages.
Writing and Publishing
- Walnut Scholars write and publish their own book!
- Walnut Scholars have a “Language Arts” block every week. This is when they come together to write and illustrate their own book in small groups.
- After that we publish it and share it with the family. So, each of our students becomes a “published author”. Isn’t that amazing?
- Writing improves the students’ reading skills, fluency, comprehension and makes them think more deeply about things.
- At Walnut, we are helping get neurological synapses in place at an early age so that their brains are sharp and ready for challenges as they go to higher classes!
Movie reviews
- Writing is an activity that is so important. It helps students to organize their thoughts, bring them into a flow, make connections and elaborate on ideas
- All these skills become more and more important when they grow older but the skill needs to be developed in the early stages of their education, which is in their primary and secondary school itself.
- Learning to write well is difficult and (let’s face it ) it’s not the activity of choice for most students. So, how do we make it happen anyway at Walnut? Through guided movie review assignments!
- Students have to watch certain movies as a whole or in parts (which they love, no problem there) and then they have to answer some questions based on it. These are not standard comprehension questions. They require a lot of thought, opinions, alternative plot twists and creative writing and all the while it stays so interesting that students don’t mind doing it.
- Writing well is difficult and a skill that needs to be practiced and it needs to be practiced regularly. Such creative writing assignments from time to time make sure that students enjoy writing and keep working on developing that skill further.
Arts Awareness
- Arts education makes children more aware of their senses and emotions
- It helps them express their ideas, feelings and experiences. Fine arts such as drawing, craft and sculpture help children develop aesthetic sense and perspective
- Performing arts help the children get more control over their movements and bearing
- Music encourages focused listening, concentration and attention.
- Dramatics and dance let the children experiment with movements and expressions to communicate a range of emotions. Again, meticulously planned, the Walnut School way!
Computational Thinking
- Computational thinking is a fundamental skill for everyone in the future, not just for computer scientists
- It involves solving problems, designing systems and understanding human behavior by drawing on the concepts fundamental to computer science
- At Walnut School we believe deeply in this and implement this approach when designing content for all subjects. In fact, our co-founder is one of the founding team members at CSPathshala, a computational thinking curriculum for schools (a part of ACM), which was initially seeded by Google.
- All these unique features along with many other additions combined together result in an awesome learning experience for students, and a hassle-free experience for parents and teachers!

Healthy Communication
Hassle Free
- Children get precise, meaningful and concise homework sheets as additional practice is needed to reach a certain skill level.

- The quantity of homework is also age appropriate, so that children study regularly.

- There are regular parent teacher meetings every fortnight where parents can speak to teachers one on one on specific Saturday mornings
- Detailed circulars give clear and precise information about what is happening in school
