Circular: Points to Note

Dear Parents,

The school will soon re-open! Here are some really important things you need to note before the school starts.

KG
In Kindergarten, children cry till they adjust to the school environment. Do understand that this is common, a routine thing. We all probably cried when we went through that phase too. Please do not ask to accompany the child to the classroom or keep peeping in. If the children see you, they cry even more. It takes around a month for most kids to get adjusted. The school staff is all busy trying to make the children feel comfortable. So do not keep calling to ask how the child is. If there is a problem, we will call you.

Routine

• Snacks are the first or second period every day.
• Do not use hair pins. Children put them in the mouth. Use BLACK COTTON hair bands instead.
• Absolutely NO safety pins on the uniform (for the child’s safety). Please understand and co-operate.
• KG kids LOVE playing with their handkerchief and also tend to forget them and lose them. You may check in the pool of ‘lost and found’ but please do not create an issue if you don’t find yours. Many people are agitated because ‘expensive’ handkerchiefs are exchanged. Please understand that the school really cannot do much in such a case.

Class 1 and Class 2
Students must carry their worksheet folder to school every day with sharpened pencils, an eraser and a ruler, in the stationery pouch provided in the folder. No sharpeners are allowed to be carried. Please do not send any fancy stationery items. Craft and drawing materials will be given in the school itself.

Academics

• Three core subjects – English, Mathematics and Science
• Additional subjects – EVS
• Content matter all available on worksheets and through eLearning lectures
• Regular homework would be given to students
• Make child practice some writing at home on the weekends
• File sheets as they come home
• Only 4 unit tests, no periodic class tests for Std. 1 and 2
• 10% of the marks in each unit will be reserved for classroom behaviour, punctuality, neat and tidy appearance, handing in homework regularly, etc.

Students will be tested on the three core subjects ONLY.

Class 3
Students must carry their worksheet folder to school every day with sharpened pencils, an eraser and a ruler, in the stationery pouch provided in the folder. Compass and protractor are to be brought to school only on the days the Math teacher specifically asks for them. No sharpeners are allowed to be carried. Please do not send any fancy stationery items. Craft and drawing materials will be given in the school itself.

• Additional subjects – Social Studies (History, Geography, EVS)
• Content matter all available on worksheets and through eLearning lectures.

• Children will also be given holiday homework in the Diwali vacation. They will have to watch the movies – The Lion King (1994) and Toy Story (1995) – as well as read the book- Adventures of the Wishing Chair by Enid Blyton.

• 10% of the marks in each unit will be reserved for classroom behaviour, punctuality, neat and tidy appearance, etc.

Students will be tested on the four core subjects ONLY. These would be written examinations and computer based objective tests. Students will have additional oral examinations for English and Marathi.

Class 4

• From Std 6, the children will also be exposed to one Marathi book as part of their Diwali vacation homework. They will be required to read the book – Superbaba by Madhuri Purandare – and answers questions based on it.
• File sheets as they come home.
• 4 unit tests, periodic class tests in each unit and 2 terminals.
• 10% of the marks in each unit will be reserved for classroom behaviour, punctuality, neat and tidy appearance, handing in homework regularly, etc.

Students will be tested on all the core subjects ONLY. These would be written examinations as well as computer based objective tests. Students will have additional oral examinations for English, Marathi and Hindi.

• From Std 6 onward, the children will also be exposed to one Marathi book as part of their Diwali vacation homework. They will be required to read the book – Shyamyachi Gammat by Madhuri Purandare – and answer questions based on it.

• 10% of the marks in each unit will be reserved for classroom behaviour, punctuality, neat and tidy appearance, handing in homework regularly, etc.

If you have to send a note to school, please follow this format. It is very important that you fill in all the fields otherwise the teacher cannot figure out exactly what is to be done, when and for whom.
