Dahi Handi

Janmashtami, also known as ‘Dahi Handi’, is celebrated with great joy and fervor at Walnut School. Our students eagerly participate in the festivities, with the KG tots dressing up as ‘Bal Gopals’ representing Lord Krishna, complete with peacock feather headgears made out of paper.

The celebrations continue with the ‘Bal Gopals’ building human pyramids with the help of their teachers, trying to reach the handi hung high above. The primary and secondary students also join in on the fun, creating their own human pyramids to empty the handi.

Our students also learn about the significance of the festival and Lord Krishna’s life through watching and enacting mythological stories and participating in quizzes based on the same. These celebrations aim to develop a deeper connection between our students and their cultural heritage.
